Thought I'd better start a thread as then I can just add to it each weekend we go away and the fantastic view new posts button can really come into it's element.

Enough idle banter. The biz.

Every now and then myself and the lovely Rosie embark on surfing missions to the north of Devon (read Woolacombe) and sometimes to the depths of Cornwall (read Hayle).
Now there are other places to surf and we shall visit them all eventually.

The point:
If any of you punks are interested in joining us you're all welcome.
I know Noj and King will be up for a bit of it sometime, especially after the fantastic succes of the last Woolacombe visit.

You never know, I might even throw in some "special" chocolate chip cookies. No, Dooo, stop drooling (if you EVER actually look at this place), the special ingredient is not THC but chilli chocolate. Top notch.

So to start with there was last Sunday, we nipped up to Woolacombe for the day and were faced with 3ft clean waves! Genius much fun was had, you should hae been there, and maybe I should have told you.

Yes indeed; funnage and fandangoes all round, even a wave upon which all four of us stood...next time one of you lot has to come to take the photos.
noj
ME NEED SURFEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm resorting to looking at Bournemouth, that's how desparate I am.
noj
Bank Holiday weekend(Next weekend I think)....any of you monkey fiddlers available for some surfing madness?
Tart
Actually I am heading down to Hayle, to see my sister on the saturday. But I am planning Devon based weekends to, and also a get-together down in dartmouth if I can get the flat for a weekend and people are up for it, but I'll post about that later...

Maybe you ought to gate crash the hayle party? Im sure nancy and rob will welcome you all with open arms so long as you do all the cooking, cleaning and picking up of dog crap.

By the way, surf has been a load of flat turd of late but sod's law it gets better this weekend when we can't go. ***jumping up and down on the spot pulling hair out in frustration ensues**
noj
I'm back, still crap, but keen to get some surfing done.

Any of you monkey fiddlers around this coming weekend for some surfing?? 9/10 July?
King
Yep
noj
I can't believe I used 'monkey fiddlers' twice....

I'd like to substitute 'ferret wranglers' to recitfy this.
noj
Did you guys get much surfing done while I was away?

feck really. the surf has been flat as a pancake or totally blown out. we went this weekend in woolacombe, big swell, bad onshore wind, leads to big battering, but it was good as we hadn't been since the bank holiday!!

There seems to be a correlation between you leavng the country and the surf going crud, did you set a curse upon it?

Mwhu hahahahaha!!!!!

Interestingly, it turns out that Barbados waves are caused by the sharp layer of coral that sits just below the surface of the water.... its a miracle I didn't damage anything.
noj
Right, so far, the King is in, as is Suzie.

I'm thinking Woolacombe because it is close.

Get there early saturday, camp overnight, come back sunday night.

Rosie/Chris....are you guys around?

I'm not bothered where we surf if anyone fancies somewhere else.

Too tiring; we'll intersperse the Camping with a little mincing and/or prancing to get us through the weekend.
RosieBear
Yes, yes, errr, yes.

waves are due to be small and suitably pithy for us beginners. But still rideable and the weather is supposed to cheer up to.

I can book the Europa camping today, it's at the top of the hill but it does have a speciality mincing wing for those wishing to Kamp rather than camp. Feather boers are permitted but only in pink and white.

On sunday there is the international sand castle building competition so maybe sire noj would like to build his dream castle, or would one rather build a beauty parlour?

I get the feeling that you lot are doubting how macho I really am. tongue.gif

Looks like we are up to 3 tents then??? Me and the missus (1), the King(2) and Rosie and Jim (Chris) (3)???

Is Europa the one at the top of the hill from the house we camped at a while back?

Rosie and Jim..ha! how funny, i've never heard that before, ha ha my ribs are splitting with hilarity....

Europa is a little further down (i think) next to the garage on the right hand side of the road as you drive into the woolly comb.

You can see why they call me the funny one unsure.gif

Ok chaps and chapesses, the camp site is booked and paid for at £12 squids each. You can pitch up from midday onwards and bbq's are allowed just " not directly on the grass "!

There's 6 of us as my friend Cath (member of the original polar bear surf club, just returned from travelling in Africa - lucky begger) is coming along too.

If anyone else wants to come, the nice lady on the phone said you're welcome to come along and not book in advance as there will be enough tent spaces for campers , obviously the National Sand Castle Competition doesn't draw as large crowds as i originally thought.

Tart

TheWoz
tart, how about you stop being a fecking bandit, and come back to hertford once in a fecking millenium!
jonnyploy
I concur.
Tart
I will, I will, just it'll have to wait till wintertime. On the other hand, although the surf was barely surf at all, a good was was had in Woolacombe at the weekend.

PS and on a third totally unrelated and random note, you've got a new flat Woz? Eloborations are in order...
King
My word there are some flattering photos on the PBSC site...though I do like both my surf n kotor shots.

TheWoz

King

QUOTE
It's my birthday this Friday (19th August) so Im inviting you all to dinner at mine.  You're all invited to sleep over too.  I shall be 26 - contrary to popular belief!!!

The reason Im sending this to you is cos I always get invites from you guys in England and can never make it out there cos Im here, and on top of that feel poo for being so far.  So from now on I plan to send you guys invites to all my shiyat too - just so I can always feel that you're not too far away.

Lots of love and kisses,

Govind 'Superstar' Dhar

PS - RSVP ASAP.

I think I can make it back from Dubai in time.
RosieBear
The royal "We" could meet you up there on sunday 21st.

Did you go to woolacombe last weekend?

Also, see if you can make yourselves free for 2/3/4 september also. We have the week off and were thinking camping and surfing at the end would be just fine!!!
Tart
Noj, I would have replied to your text but I'm too lazy. But I'm here now and at work so I have plenty of time.

This wekend alas, it's a work's do (should be cool though quad bikes, clay pidgeon shooting, hopefully hovercrafts too...) on the saturday, but if you're hanging about at all on the Sunday, we'll be happy to join you at noon-thirty-ish.

Also we should do the following fortnight (3rd & 4th Sept) somewhere.

PS the sebsite is coming along v. slowly, I need to include the rest of the profiles and get pics for peolpe etc... sort the interactive bit and all, but i will at some point. Also I got a better domain for it http://pbsc.modbychris.net/

EDIT: Ooooh double post.
noj
Ok, count me in for the jolly in 2 weeks time.

We should be surfing on Sunday too, assuming there are waves. If there aren't we can take it in turns trying not to die on my skimboard.

RosieBear
eeeeeeeeeeexcellent
King
I'll be there I should think...Boston ain't till the 7th
RosieBear
Ok then chaps and chapesses, time to get your votes in for this weekend!

Where would you like to camp? We don't yet know how the surf is going to be, predictions at the moment are talking of a swell but not necessarily clean, perhaps better the further west you can go.

Are you east coast people coming on friday and would you be up for driving all the way to hayle or would you perhaps prefer a location closer to the m5, let's say croyde/ saunton or bude/ widemouth?

Answers on this post, addressed to ... well, you get the gist.

Ta ta

P.s Tartiflette caught a really good wave and rode it really well yesterday...b*st*rd.
noj
Ok, I'm a retard. Turns out I have a v'ball tournament this weekend.

mad.gif

How are you guys fixed for going next weekend/the weekend after as well???

RosieBear
Well Noj it really does seem that you are indeed a great galumphing galaa....

but yes, we'll be able to play surf dudes next weekend and most likely weekend after.
King
Moron, well I'm going down tonight but not next weekend as I have better places to be.
noj
Camping/Surfing this weekend....I'm waiting for the forecast for the weekend to go online, then we can see where the waves will be decent and go there.

I know about tart, Rosie and Nick........

King: you in?

Tart
King's in foreign parts... (at least i think so! not very good at the old organisation me...)
King
Hello.

I'm back from foreign parts...at least I think I am, I'm not really sure with it at the moment.

hi mike! How is it in Foreign Parts? Ive never been there myself but heard that the weather can be a bit changeable...
King
It's generally hotter, a little sweaty, but quite pleasant thanks for asking.
noj
Right,

Me, Suzie and Nick are going to be heading down to woolacombe on saturday morning. (Haven't heard from King)

We'll be around all weekend, hopefully heading back home on sunday evening.......

Tart/Rosie/King....give me a shout if you fancy a splash about.

Noj
Tart
Cool, we may well be up that way on Sunday.

Get some pics dude! We (by which I mean Mike) got some good ones at Croyde last whenever. They're on the website.
noj
This weekend (1/10-2/10):

I've been waiting on a forecast for woolacombe.....

I think what we'll do is head down to Woolacombe and see what the waves are like. If they are rubbish, we'll relocate further south.

I'll hold off booking until tomorrow and see how the waves are looking before we commit.

So far its me, Nick and King.....haven't heard from Tarto or Rosie

What do you guys think?

http://www.a1surf.com/surfcheck-sw-forecast.html
RosieBear
yo dude, hang ten....

anyway...surf is supposedly extremely large and beasty at the moment and is reported to remain so into saturday, sheltered spots being preferable, like putsborough..but sunday is hopefully cleaning up a little and not so frightening!

we can make sunday but will be going to bude/ widemouth or maybe even harlyn in cornwall..about 15 miles east of newquay..a beautiful sheltered bay..this is coz we are probably in plymouth sat night and tartiflette is working saturday...even if we dont go out in plymouth i think would still be best to head for more sheltered spots, i would recommend harlyn...and apparently the river mouth in padstow is fantastic when rough and big everywhere else....a local secret..or not so secret now..spot!? so i suppose if it's popular with the locals, we wont be popular for invading it!
noj
I think we are going to abort the surf fest this weekend....a1 says that its going to be crappy and blown out......try again in 2 weeks

in the mean time planning for colorado in jan continues....we might go to adry slope somewhere this weekend if anyone is interested.
