So a bit ahead of time I know but you are all such busy people.

New Year? Jonnyboy's Birthday? Dan's Birthday? Xmas?

Answers on a postcard.

In fact, its probably easier to just reply to this post. That way everyone can read it.

I am thinking of doing something blatant for my birthday, but I have no idea what.

Also, my sister and I are considering doing some sort of slap up meal type effort for New Year at my place. Any takers? I should warn that the amount of Halo playing at such an event would be considerably less (i.e. non-existent) than many of you will be used to. However, for the eligible batchelors among you, there may well be a number of my sister's really quite attractive friends present. Every cloud...

[Slick Tony]You know eating a slap-up meal is much like making love to a beautiful woman: It feels good at the time but in the long run all it will leave you with is an interesting after-taste and a lighter wallet.[/Slick Tony]

That sounds pretty good to me Jon, it's at the top of my list of invites so far...it's also the entire list but never mind.

Edit: Hmm that didn't come out quite right; what I meant was that sounds like a wonderful idea (both meal, lack of Halo and female company) and I would love to come, barring any unfortunate family commitment.

Jonnyboy you should be a salesman. That's a classic feature/benefit with instant rewards and I would like to sign up for the Gold package at £19,500. And for the 'with' or 'without' option, I would like 'with'. Thank you.

(Not that you needed to SELL me a new year's bash of course... but you haven't done your chances any harm)

NYE at JB's sounds like a JGI (Jolly good Idea)

I may well do something this year. 24 is such an imporant one after all - even number, divisiable by all of 1,2,4,6,12,24, twice a dozen, number of hours in a day, name of a tv series, gestation period for a badger...

And of course non of you have seen my new place which is still in need of a badgerfest break in.

Ideally like it to have it on a weekend after all the crazy boarders return from their various mountains. Last time I thought about this about 18 of you were neck deep in snow. Let us all know your ski/travelling plans.

IN FACT - I've just noticed Badgerfests calender facility. Stick down when you are away on that and it should become immensely clear when people are free.

That said - we should also agree a good day to have Johns New Year's Eve dinner on. I was thinking 31st December but I think that lacks originality. Any other ideas?

What news on biscuits?

Slap my meal up.
DanSon
aye - what's the latest JB?

Okay punks, here's what is going down. As you may know, my birthday is Tuesday 27th December (see calendar). In a haze of wonky logic, I will be celebrating this fact on the 28th (that's Wednesday just in case you were wondering).

The celebration will take the form of a meal in Lussmans of St All-Bran followed by drinkage in Lloyds (also in St Albans). Some of you may remember going to Lussmans in Hertford earlier this year. The St Albans one is relatively new but I doubt that there is much difference.

So, I need to know who can come to the meal/drinks/both so that I can book the appropriate number of seats at the restaurant.

I have also invited a number of work colleagues, but don't fret. Almost all of them are socially adequate so the chances of a you versus them type evening with me in the middle are minimised.

Thankyou and goodnight.

Sounds good. Count me in.

Anything involving All Bran gets my vote. I'll be there.
jonnyploy
Okay, plan update.

I'm thinking 7pm for the meal with optional drinkypoos beforehand at the Tudor Tavern. This will give us a place to meet up before going to the restaurant.

Then we will go on to Lloyds for a bit of a boogie.

One thing I ought to say is this: Lloyds has a dress code. Usually they only bother with it at weekends, but the Christmas period might be different. Therefore, please please please don't wear trainers. Jeans are fine - they don't give a toss. Trainers are out, and I would say probably so are skate shoes unless they are very discreet and of completely dark colour.

Are you feeling me? Check it one time, select.

Oh, one more thing. I really need to know who is coming, so sort it out guys.
DanSon
Yep I'd be up for it.

However given my non-local position I have no idea of the plans surrounding the evening -
ie do you live in st albans now? Would there be a place I can stay? Do we drive to the pub/restaurant or your house? How far is St. Albans from hertford?

I'll actually probably be in Broxbourne that afternoon. Likely I'll be able to come join you for drinks and dinner but head back afterwards as I am supposed to be helping my grandparents move house that day and the next. Could there be a better holiday activity?

st albans is about 30 mins drive from hertford... em and i live in st albans now and the jonnyboy works here. theres definitely floor space available at my flat which is walking distance to all locations mentioned above. tudor tavern, lloyds, lussmans etc. so you're welcome to stay with us.
