Unfortunately my camera decided it didn't like the cold so I'm gonna drip feed you some shots from Noj's Casio and Suzie's disposable.
Edit: Or I would if someone would let me attach an .avi file.

green with envy
Yeah sorry about that Rosie...not that sorry obviously...
The Flows were great; I'd get of the lift scoot over to the slope, start down it and shove my boot in and...wait for the strap-ins. Control was no problem, the only issues I had were initial set-up; are they tight enough? should my boot look twisted like that when kneeling? and putting them on without clearing out the powder resulting in a slab of ice underfoot. Not huge problems really. Overall very happy with them and the board; no slipping on ice for me (but then there wasn't really all that much ice).
I also got some comfortable boots (Salamon Dialogues) for roughly £115 and some Oakley A-Frames with the fancy hi-res lenses for £50. God bless Miss Jones (that's Melhuish if you're still wondering) and her staff discount.
Steamboat was very nice; quite a small mountain but the snow was constant powder and you could ride anywhere; they have the normal pistes but the also had a signpost pointing into a forest off the edge to indicate that they reckoned this was a genuine run as well...I like trees me. It was also pretty pricey, or it would have been without sterling work by Suzie. It would have been harder had anyone else come along.
There was also a huge terrain park - loads of rails and some large jumps with plenty of runoff, but no inverted airs were allowed so we didn't bother. We went to the baby park where the rails were an inch off the ground and there was a modest kicker (see photo) which we hit and hiked.

This, believe it or not, is an action shot taken going through trees.

This is the baby terrain park. Not that you can make out any terrain. The lump in the middle distance is a rainbow rail.

Jonnyboy, allow me to translate, seeing as you are evidently not up to speed with grungey board lingo.
"The Flows were great": This is a new band in the style of The Strokes which Mike checked out while he was over there. There latest single is entitled 'Bimbley Bim Bim'.
"I'd get of the lift scoot over to the slope": Having gone down to the ground floor in the hotel elevator, Mike would use his scooter to go over to inspect a small hummock in the hotel car park.
"start down it and shove my boot in": he would then run down the small hummock and shove his boot in to search for trapped hedgehogs.
"and...wait for the strap-ins": Like strap-ons but more painful
I hope that clears things up.
The Flows are a great band championed by Mr Peel along with The Sloots, The Slots, The Groan, Exploding Truss, The Geckos, Hubert and his Piletones, The Ear, The Nose, The Throat, The CassaWarriors from Hell, Inevitable Groyne, Frank and the Sandlemen and the Goatees. (One for GHP fans there.)
As for the rest I was talking to Riders only - I don't expect 'Norms' or (worse) 'Skiers' to understand.
Briefly Flows are a type of binding which you can step into, lock and use. Strap-in bindings require one to...strap-in. Bindings are a method of lashing one's boots to a snowboard. A snowboard is a crude plank on which one can balance and slide down snow on an incline. Apparently people do this sort of thing for fun.

Don't believe it.
@King - Sweet. I love my flows too. May have to get me aboot upgrade soon though...
May not look like much but it felt good.
And one of Noj...I think that's about it.
sweet posts king. snow looks fabulous. what on earth is that attached to noj's head?
just got back from italy (resort Pila) myself. not as much snow as that but it did have enough to be good fun.
anyway - i'm thinking of getting boots and flows....but no board.
how sensible an idea is that? will flow bindings fit into most rental boards?
where's a good place to buy such stuff? should i wait until after april?
Yeah flows'll fit on anything I think. I'm not sure it's the direction i'd take (in fact the direction I took was board in August, bindings for Christmas and boots in America), but whatever floats your boat. I reckon the bindings will stay about the same price throughout; they're quite popular I think mine came from www.summit.co.uk or .com. Boots it's all about comfort; if you can find a good fit in the sales, go for it (Noj and I have Salamon Dialogues, v good).
As for Noj's head...so many jokes so little time. In truth his goggles but that's no fun.
You got any pix to share Dan?

As far as I'm aware all bindings will fit all boards.
The thing you have to be careful about is that some baseplates (the cog-like bits that you set the angle of your boots with and actually screw into the board) have 4-holes and some 3.
The 4 is more common and will fit anything but a Burton board. Burtons have the "3D" baseplates (as they call them).
My flow came with 4-holes baseplates, and I'm betting Kings did too as he has a K2 board. So as long as you buy a spare pair of 3D baseplates (about £15) or never rent a burton board, you'll be fine.
Also get 32 boots. This may sound like bad advice (even overkill) but a bit of research will show you I'm right - try "I'm feeling Lucky" on "32 boots"...

Defo wait til the end of the season though, you ma not have such a range of choice but will pay less.
cheers for the advice guys esp about the baseplates. might be going for a week in April somewhere so will look out for some end of season goodness!

That sounds familiar...
yes i've been told!
you dont have a video of that one do you?
i'll show you mine if you show me yours...
watched dubai x-games last night.
halfpipe: saw a blader do a 1080, a biker do a 720 and a skateborder try a 900 about 5 times but just couldn't land it. Good efforts though - looked amazing.
