I have a question I hope someone of knowledge can answer;

A collegue asked me if I could say why 'Rise of Nations' keeps crashing his PC, I told him he probably needs a chunkier Graphics Card ('cos that always seems to be the way). I wonder if y'all could take a look at the specs and tell me if I was right or if I should keep my techno-happy nose out of your game.

Dell Dimension 4550 P4 2.0 GHz/512k (400FSB) Integrated Sound
Intel Pentium 4 Processor 2.0 GHz
256MB 266Mhz DDR RAM + 128 MB RAM
60GB IDE Hard Drive (7200rpm)
ATI Rage 128 Ultra (16MB) Video Card
with Windows XP Home SP1

VS

Requirements:

Windows XP/2000/ME/98 - 128 MB RAM
500 Mhz Processor
800 MB Hard Drive
16MB/3D Video Card

Let me know what you think.

Not being a techie, I don't know the answer to this one, but I'm putting my money on Pete saying it's because windows is shite.

It fits the minimum requirements, but a 16Mb Graphics card is pants nowadays.

I have a server machine, which has no screen attached, but need a graphics card just to run.
It has a 32Mb Graphics card because it was the cheapest piece of shite I could find at the time.

Also, I quote from wikipedia:
QUOTE
Rage 128 Pro was generally an even match for Voodoo 3 3500

Now to put that in prespective, I think Ween had a Voodoo 3 back when we were in the sixth form - and 8 year old card can't be good.

So I was right then. I get to keep my reputation of 'Person with Computer knowledge' don't ask me why people seem to assume I know stuff; I must have an air of geek about me.

Anyway your comments were appreciated; much guffawing came from the end of the office upon reading your words Tart.

Ta.
