Full Version: Last week of Sept

Right, I have booked time off from work for the last week of September. My initial plan was to go on holiday, but I have been too busy to sort that, and I will remain busy until my exams are over (12 Sept)

Because of that I am now looking for things to do in that week. I have a work social event on the Thursday and possibly will be seeing Jurassic 5 on the Saturday (see music thread), but I am open to suggestions for the other days.

For my part, I thought that a visit to Thorpe Park could be made. Would anyone else be interested? Thorpe Park is no longer the poor relation of the other theme parks, but is now rammed full of quality rides. I believe that it is also not all that far (relatively) from various people's houses. So transport shouldn't be too much of an issue.

Thoughts?

Jonnyboy!

Well I'm afraid I will decline on the Thorpe Park front - I don't really 'do' theme parks.

However, I volunteer my services through my new company 'huge huge lamberage in London ahoy plc' (still working on the name - needs a bit more sizzle)

All you need to do is pick a day, choose the amount of lamberage you wish to encounter, and leave the rest to me!

Also by then I will be in my new flat in Bayswater so we will have a whole new load of pubs/clubs to explore. Frisbee in Hyde Park anyone?

Look at that chihuahua with its spaghetti carbonarouha

I'm kinda with Sam on Theme parks but could be convinced. I also have that final Friday off so if, um, lamberage is organised I would be happy to lamber it old skool with any posse in kickin' it in the hood.

there is always the possibility that we will be in our new house by then, so i insist that we pencil in that weekend as a housewarming/joint birthday bash for em and i...

(ems birthday is 14th august... make sure everyone wishes her happy birthday)

Well, I'm sure I don't know what you all have against theme parks, but never mind.

Thankyou Sampie and Weenpie for some stonking suggestions, though I wasn't sure which weekend you meant Ween (23rd would be best for me).

BTW, is anyone apart from Loren interested in Jurassic 5? I'll probably buy the tickets soon.

Guy's I can vouch for Thorpe Park.

It used to be fun for pre-teens. And that's about it.

But the last time I went (about a year ago) the rides just about wrenched my guts from my spleen and my brain dented at least 3 sides of my skull.

At least that's what it feels like on 4 hours sleep and a bitch of a hangover! (don't do that - honestly).

One of the Saturday's at Thorpe park could be awsome - may be a Saturday then back to one of the Londoner's pad's for some lambers.

mmmm lambers.

Thank you Dannyboy, at least someone else has a fondness for their guts being wrenched and their skulls being dented. Although I suppose any theme park ride will be a breeze for Dan 'I like being filmed landing on my head while snowboarding' Watts.

I also concur on the 'mmm lambers' front.
DanSon
Guys - which weekend are we actually talking about here? I'm presuming the 30th?
DanSon
Right had word from Ploy - 30th looks good.
Who actually is up for something Thorpe parkish? I've looked and you can get cheap deals sometimes. A day out for £15 sounds good value. Can we get 5 or 6 people interested?

Thinking of meeting up at someone's in London on the Friday night so we can get an early start on Saturday.

And honestly - Thorpe park is no longer just a kiddy place - some quality rides there now. And no clowns.
King
OK I'll do it. Though I reserve the right to pull out if I have something better to do like move into a flat or something.

jonnyploy
Oh yes indeed missus. Count me in.
DanSon
pfft the flat isn't going anywhere and Thorpe park only appears once every 500 years. It's a Bimillenial Magical Wonderland (English design, German parts). Didn't you know that?

good stuff. 3 in so far. Sammyboy - if King can do it you can too!
King
Sure Danny whatever you say; I've texted Noj/Ween as their 'Fest skills can sometimes be lacking.
DanSon
also does anyone have some small child - a cousin or something that we can steal for the day to terrify? We'd need to smuggle him/her past the height-restriction guards but with enough of us setting up a distraction shouldn't be hard.

Sammyboy
Look, I've told you once and I won't tell you again, I don't do theme parks. I can't stand the queues, I can't stand kids screaming everywhere and I most definitely don't do rides. As mentioned before, lamberage in London is the only way forward.
govinddhar
If I was in Engurland I'd come.

Sammystar - you're beginning to sound older than me. *chortle*

And whilst on that note - what a fucking fantastic word is chortle!

And Dan - what the fuck is that all about a little child? You strange strange boy!
DanSon
£18.00 per ticket at the moment. (normal £28.50)

People still interested?

Do we have any more solid plans for London?
