Full Version: Jonnyboy's birthday

I was chatting with Monsieur Rossiter the other day and we agreed that it was time I told everyone that I will again be doing something for my birthday this year. I know it's early yet, but if I don't get in quick, everyone will have made Christmas arrangements (some of you may have done already of course). I am proposing doing something actually on my birthday if possible (27th) or else on the Friday after (29th).

Preliminary plans are as follows: Meal at some fabulous eaterie, followed a night of boogie-ing on down to classic 80s grooves at Reflex in Watford.

I realise that the prospect of dancing the night away doesn't do it for everyone, but it does for me, so ner. Plus, I figure that as I will again be inviting groups of friends who don't know each other, there is no better way of uniting you all than by persuading you all to sing along to Michael Jackson's Billie Jean or Lionel Richie's Dancing On The Ceiling or even (if we are very lucky) Bon Jovi's Livin' On A Prayer.

What say you?

Sounds like a great plan, but sadly I can make neither the 27th nor the 29th; I am leaving for San Diego on the 26th.

Well, one of these years you should plan a birthday bash in Southern California. We have clubs; we have restaurants; we have entire radio stations devoted to the 80's. We also have very, very nice weather.
jonnyploy
It's a deal.
King
I'll sing along to Livin' on a Prayer but if there's a hint of disco I'm gonna sulk.
jonnyploy
It's exclusively 80s, so there may well be some disco, but a not a huge amount as I believe that disco was dead by '82.

Disco or no, anyone caught sulking will be sent home without any birthday cake.
King
Well...as long as I can wear spandex.
RosieBear
If you do wear Spandex Michael remember to avoid pink as it will clash with your hair...

I do think a few sequins would go down very well though - or are they a bit Disco?

As for California - yeah!!!

P.S. Is it true everyone wears Bermuda shorts there or is that just in Bermuda?
Jennie
Not so many bermudas, more bikinis. Although in December many of the beach bunnies go into hibernation (except on days like today when it's 88 degrees here--definitely a beach day!)
DanSon
you'd better make it the 27th.
otherwise I'll feel very odd (and steal your thunder wink.gif
I'll probably have my 25th up in Cambridge sometime a bit later.

Jennie - how about an amusing description of what makes a "beach bunny"? Perhaps "govi rated" if you're feeling up to it!
Jennie
Ah, difficult to say, really. I always think of someone with more money than...well just more money. Then, you don't need a job and can spend all of your time at the beach.
But, as usual, Google provides excellent visuals.
For the literal beach bunny you could look here. For a more Maxim type beach bunny, the web provides this. However, that is a Las Vegas beach bunny, so she may be a different species.

(As an aside, the stuff that came up on google images with the search "beach bunny"? More than a little disturbing...)

she wasn't joking:

Gosh you lucky thing, I looked and got a fluffy bunny website and a swimwear website.

You must have been thorough Dan. wink.gif
Sammyboy
That's one of Dan's drawings he does at weekends.

must have been my browser's memory auto-filling in the rest of my google search terms with "cartoon porn".

gives quite distrubing results when searching for political updates:

eg "usa senate cartoon porn"
