Full Version: Jonnyboy's birthday

Okay, I will also be doing something for birthday this year. I'm thinking similar to last year (i.e. meal at restaurant in St Albans followed by drinks at a suitable drinking establishment).

The date will be Friday 28th December, timing to be confirmed but probably 7.30pm ish.

The meal will be at Zizzi's (they have recently refurbished and have a new menu for us to check out). I haven't decided on the drinks front yet, but possibly The Peahen, the newly chav-less Vintry or even Ye Olde Fighting Cocks down the hill.

Let me know whether you will be able to make it so that I can book a table.

Bo!

I think I shall be Dartmouth way around that time with C&R so that's a negatory good buddy.

Really? You and Rosie must be making plans again...

I was just about to post that due to my Arctic galavanting earlier in the year, I'm not taking any holiday at all over Christmas and even worse, will be working on the 28th...

Actually I did just post that, so that's a no I'm afraid Jonnyboy

Well not on the 28th but a bit later was posited...I'm sure you were involved at some point.
Sammyboy
No Reflex? Sort it!
jonnyploy
I did consider Reflex, but decided against in order to not to put off those without a predilection for 80s cheese.

There will be a separate Reflex outing later in January I imagine which I will let you all know about should any of you wish to attend.
Jennie
Oddly enough, I will be in the area. As will Pete. Do I get a prize for traveling the farthest to attend the party?

jonnyploy
Yes.
DanSon
Sign me up. As long as you say happy birthday to me at midnight. =)

Can I sleep somewhere. Please?
jonnyploy
Dannyboy - you can stay at Tizzy's if you like.

Especially as the prize I was thinking of was to give Jennie her book back. Difficult one to double.

On a related note: Tizzy and I will not be going to Perth and therefore will be around for the wedding. Woo hoo!

Yes but also surely a slight boo hoo for the non-Perth thing?

It was a big boo hoo but we booked flights to New York in June yesterday which eased the pain somewhat.

When will you people start visiting the West Coast? It's much better! Although, I will be in New York in June. Of course, it is an 8th grade "East Coast" trip, so I will have an entourage of approximately 100 students, but if you see us, you should certainly stop and wave (and then run the other way, 100 thirteen year olds are not good for anyone's vacation).

Rosie, even without the prize, I am planning on attending the wedding. Also, congratulations! And mazel tov!

Jonnyboy, I was expecting the book. Care to venture a guess what your gift will be?

Following year maybe? San Diego is definitely on the list.

An all expenses paid trip to the west coast of America? Failing that, I'll settle for my book.

Perhaps when they invent ftl...or the price of flying beds comes down a bit.

Is that how you spell it? I've never bothered to wonder...
jonnyploy
Okay, so far we have:

Sammyboy
Pete & Jennie
Dannyboy

Er...that's it.

Still waiting to hear from:

Ween & Em (sort it)
Noj
Williams
Doo
Mango and Sam
Lorenzo

It's a good job I invited some people from work too.
TheWoz
Morning jonnyboy and co. sorry its been a bit delayed, but i've been trying to sort out some cover at work.

em pie and myself would like to accept your kind invitation

but please dont be expecting anymore than a fully wanged slap in your general direction...

and maybe a 'high five' from em pie
Matt Williams
I live.

...and am free on Friday 28, so it would be great to meet up. Is anyone coming from Hertford so I can get a lift?

Incidentally, I'm around for the whole of Christmas and New Year, although I'm working all non-bank-holiday days plus the 26th and 30th.

Sam, sorry it's taken a week and a half to act on your email.
DanSon
Ploy - I somehow managed to miss your reply. Would it still be ok to stay at Tizzy's? Would be awsome if I could.

Matt - I'm driving from Cambridge but if no one is going from Hertford I could swing by and pick you up.

Obviously if I can stay at Tizzy's you'll need to ask if you can do the same or otherwise ask someone else to ferry you back =)

Dan
jonnyploy
Yes, it is still fine to stay at Tizzy's.

Matt: please let me know if you wish to stay as well so that arrangements can be made.

Ditto Sammyboy?
jonnyploy
Dudes/Dudettes,

Zizzis are losers and won't take bookings therefore Pizza Express (still in St Albans) is booked for 7.30pm this Friday.

If anyone needs directions then give me a bell.

Otherwise, see you then.
TheWoz
does anyone fancy meeting in the peahen maybe? for a drink before?
i reckon a good chillaxin' session would be nice
DanSon
Pizza Express sounds good.

Can I have a postcode and street address for Tizzy's? I'll head over there and drop the car off first. Ta much.

Woz - if I get there in time, and if it is possible to walk in from Tizzy's, I'll be up for it.

TheWoz
it depends on your definition of 'possible'

its about a 10-15min drive i think...
Matt Williams
Thanks for the offers of transport and accommodation. However, I've just discovered that I can get the train from work (via Kings Cross) before and back to Hertford after, so I'll probably aim for that. If all goes according to plan, I should be in St. Albans for 18:35, so I'd be up for getting a drink first.

I am right in thinking St. Albans train station (not St. Albans Abbey) is fairly close to the restaurant, aren't I?

Cheers,

Matt

Still need that precious GPS Nourishing Postcode though.

You will have issues getting from St Albans to Hertford on the train (i.e. it will take fecking ages as you will have to go into London and out again). I would suggest that getting a lift back (or sharing a taxi) with Sam/Loren (who is now coming with girlfriend) would be a plan.

QUOTE

No. It's walkable in about 10-15 mins at your pace (assuming you know where you're are going) but will be uphill all the way to the restaurant.

Sounds good. You could come over to Tizzy's and pick the three of us up and we could head in early.

Any more questions?
