I'm looking to buy a TV, circa 40 inch screen and don't know whether to go for LCD or PDP. I know the theoretical differences between the two but I have not actually experienced the difference in practice. If I were going for 42 inch then I wouldn't even ask the question but would go for plasma straightaway. 40 inch seems to be the boundary between LCD superiority and Plasma superiority.
Any advice?
Any specific model recommendations would also be appreciated. Leaning towards Samsung at the moment as seem to be pretty good value, but my parents have a Panasonic Viera which I love.
Go for a 42 inch and make your life easier! =)

Too big I think. In fact, 40 inch is probably too big. This telly will probably end up in a living room at some point, however while we are still in the flat it is going in the bedroom. 42 inch is therefore ridiculous. I think it'll be the Samsung LCD that I end up going for.
I got a 37" Samsung LCD in full 1920x1080 resolution.
You'll pay through your teeth to get a screen at that resolution in Plasma. 37" seems well big enough in our lounge to but not INCREDIBLY HUGE which is probably a good thing if it's gonna be in your bedroom as well. I'm well pleased with it anyway, and Rosie didn't explode in a "my god you've bought the biggest telly ever and it looks shit in our house" kinda way - which I was quite pleased about.
Something like this one:

Went for LCD in the end. 40". Samsung. It's sweet.

On a related note, the Blu Ray player that I got with the telly has an Ethernet connection so that I can download software and access enhanced Blu Ray content etc. However, the actual internet connection in our flat is in a completely different room. Is there anyway that I can transform wifi back into 'wired' so that I can hook up the player?
I think you want a wireless bridge like this:

Ah, woops, I assumed you were on a wireless network and wanted a way of connecting a wired only appliance to your network.
