In case I haven't already made it clear the BBC's Director-General Mark Thompson (who appears to be a particularly twatty man wit zero taste and no sense of humour) has decided the BBC radio station 6Music should be shut down to allow its paltry budget to go to more meaningful output on BBC 3 such as Snog, Marry, Avoid and Hotter than my daughter.
This makes me sad.
It has also prompted me to actually do something about it and so (as you probably know) I have contacted the BBC telling them why it's abd idea, joined the facebook group, signed the petition and even Tweeted with the #Save6music hashtag (whatever one of those it).
This thread is to encourage, ask, beg, request, plead and bully you all to add your voice to mine in any way you can be bothered.
So at the very least
Sign the Petition: http://www.petition.fm/petitions/6musicasiannet/1000/
(Very easy, very quick)
or
Join the Facebook group: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=278123313911
(Also easy)
If you're feeling strong, fill in the BBC Online Survey (especially question 5): https://consultations.external.bbc.co.uk/de...on/consult_view
(Kind of a drag but much more effective than either of the first two I should think)
If you can't face all that Survey nonsense just e-mail: srconsultation@bbc.co.uk
(Probably as effective as the survey)
For more info http://www.jrhunt.co.uk/2010/03/02/how-to-save-6music/ seems to have it all laid out very nicely.
And as a nice dead donkey; go to YouTube to see Dan Bull's open musical letter to the BBC which is very good and quite funny http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=soGKRMb8p0U
I'm not sure how many of you (if any) listen to 6Music (you all should as it plays the sort of stuff we all like without adverts and with only one really annoying DJ (I'm looking at you George Lamb)), but even if you don't really care could you please as a favour to me as I will be quite upset if it goes. Oh and it's the home of the Adam and Joe Show; if that's not a reason I don't know what is.
