hello fight fans,

sadly the apartments that I have looked at do not require all-in-one-bed fun. (BOOO!),

I've wangled a small discount from this place:
Hilton residence Colombo:

They've quoted a price of $135 for a three bedroom apartment, and $123 for a two bedroom apartment. Although this sounds pricey, firstly the price is in USD, secondly, each bedroom has a double bed, so costs will be between 5-6 people for the three-bed and 3-4 people for the two-bed apartments and thirdly, the other places in Colombo were charging on a weekly basis, rather than a daily, so the whole equation tips back in favour of this place. And also it's a lovely place apparently.

Dependent on Drew and Simona, i'll be able to either book two 3-bedroom apartments, or a 3-bedroom and a 2-bedrooom apartment for the time when everyone is in Colombo. I've already asked to reserve the apartments, subject to what the final number is.


Rosie and Mrs Blake, thanks for getting back to me with suggestions, i've got most of your ideas already in the provisional tour, elephant trek, festival of the tooth, and mooching on beach.

i'm working out some timings with Ayesha and i'll put them on here for you to have a look at. Sadly there may not be a chance to do everything in the five days when everyone is there, due to the bad roads, and the resultant time needed to drive to these places, so it may be a compromise of trying to visit the places relatively near to each other in the week when everyone is here, and then whoever is lucky enough to have some extra time, can have a look at the rest.

I'll warn you now though, the tour will be pricey, looking at about $330 dollars a head for the five days (accomodation and B&B), which is mainly due to the operators getting the hotels to hike up the prices for foreigners. But hopefully this is balanced out by the economy of when you guys are in Colombo.

sorry, the rate for the apartments that i've quoted above, is on a nightly basis for the whole apartment (including taxes, but not food).

In characteristic lateness for important functions such as weddings I have finally caught up with all the chat and excitement that is yet another fest wedding and feel like a twat for being so late to the keerangness of it all.

Thankfully, I am not economically prohibited from getting to you peeps on this one - YESSSS! Currently though, we are looking at relocating to India so I don't know what we're doing at that time (packing house and home and children and generally feeling poor, hot and bothered). If nothing's on I don't see any obstacles other than flight and hotel availability. So when are these hotel/apt rates likely to go up Loz?

I shall have to discuss with the better half and scoot back to you lot asap with a gameplan. I would LOVE to get to this shindig baybees.

As it stands, for the time we are in Colombo, (29/07 - 2/08 and 6/08 - 11/08) the crew have two 3-bedroom apartments to kick back in. This means that currently Samsonite and Danson have a room to themselves. You can therefore use your hairy wiles to share a room with either one.

OR

I could get you another apartment in the building if you could persuade Jyoti to come along. should be the same charges as i've said before.

What about the tour too? I'm looking to book the tickets soon.

Dates - from 2/08 - 6/08
Day 1: Colombo / Pinnawela / Nuwaraeliya - Dinner only night stay at Grand Hotel.( 4 star)

Day 2: Nuwaraeliya /Ella / Kandy - Breakfast & Dinner – Night at Tree of Life Hotel – Kandy

Day 3: Kandy / Habarana / Pollonnaruwa / Habarana – Breakfast & Dinner - Night at Chaaya
Village Habarana

Day 4: Habarana / Trinco – Breakfast & Dinner – Night stay at the Nilaveli Beach Hotel

Day 5: Trinco / Habarana (Minneriya Safari) Colombo – Breakfast only.



Basically it's
Day1 - Elephant orphanage and then tea plantation

Day 2 - bit more in tea estate, then lunch or caving and then visit temple at Kandy

Day 3 - Travel a bit north, have relaxing massages in hotel, or visit some old places

Day 4 - Travel to beach and mooch, or do some diving/scubing or surfing (still to find out about this)
Day 5 - bit more of beach, then home, stopping off at an elephant safari.

Should be roughly $300 per person..


I want to send definite changes and numbers to the travel agent soon, so let me know if you have any suggestions and Govi for you if you want to join us for the tour.

This sounds like a honeymoon package - for which you're taking all the festers with you. Man - talk about firsts! You are most excellent.

Not at all Girth Vader, it's on the 31/07. Everyone is getting there for the thursday before and then the wedding on the Saturday and the tour is on the following monday. Fun and merriment will hopefully ensue till one lot of festers have to go home on the Sunday and then another lot on the following wednesday.

TBH, i'm not sure that i'm too hot on the scuba.....I'm more expert at the mooching.

This makes it all considerably more complex as I've just realised we shall be heading back from England around the end of July after my film course.

Folks not sure of their plans - will have to anchor them to Dubai and leave the children in some sort of self-contained ferret cage near them. Could take some doing...shall report back asap.

Also - the tour package includes hotels yes?

Mate - I have just consulted all parties on this and it seems to be too far in the future to know what all parties will be doing. So at this point, I shall have to defer to sketchy judgement and say I can't confirm at this point. This no doubt leaves me feeling rather like a football on a spike - deflated, slightly misshapen and in need of some petting.

I always pet a deflated football.
